Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC)

The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) is the national Body representing the nation’s food and grocery products manufacturers. The food and grocery products industry is Australia's largest manufacturing sector, employing more than 200,000 Australians and contributing 2.5 per cent to gross domestic product. The role of the Council is to help shape a business environment that encourages the food and grocery products industry to grow and remain profitable.

Sixteen major food and beverage manufacturers have now signed up to the Australian Food and Grocery Council’s Responsible Children's Marketing Initiative. The companies have publicly committed to not advertise to children aged under 12, unless the product promotes healthy dietary choices and a healthy lifestyle consistent with scientific standards. The food companies’ commitment will be backed by a public complaints program carried out in co-ordination with the ASB.

Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA)

The Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA) represents the interests of 185 companies providing advertising and marketing communications services. The AFA was formed in 1975 as a not-for-profit industry Body operating for the sole benefit of our member agencies across all states of Australia. AFA members provide commercial communications to clients across the broad spectrum – everything from traditional advertising services to digital, direct marketing, healthcare, multicultural and design. They help their members - large and small, multinational and locally owned – to grow their businesses by the provision of professional development services, advocacy and support for an appropriate regulatory environment.

The Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association (PANPA)

PANPA features a membership from every significant newspaper company in Australia and New Zealand, plus most English–language newspapers in South East Asia and the South Pacific. They seek to connect their members with industry best practice. This association acts as an information exchange for the newspaper industry through the regular PANPA Bulletin newspaper, their website and a host of workshops and seminars held across the Pacific.

Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB)

The Advertising Standards Bureau administers a national system of advertising self-regulation through the Advertising Standards Board and the Advertising Claims Board. The self-regulation system recognises that advertisers share a common interest in promoting consumer confidence in and respect for general standards of advertising.

“To promote, protect and further the interests of its publisher members; to encourage high standards of advertising and to provide an advisory service and reference point for its members on industry regulation and advertising matters.”
